Engraving is not mere decoration – it is a signature the metal carries for its entire life. Every stroke of the graver is born under a microscope, in the quiet of Vratislav Svárovský’s workshop.
My name is Vratislav Svárovský and this beautiful craft of engraving has been part of my life for 32 years. After 1989, my father founded a company specialising in custom-made hand-ground knives with artistic decoration – known as deep etching.
In 1992 we began exporting abroad, primarily to Germany. It was then that one of the internationally renowned engravers, Werner Schuch, took notice of my work. After an admission process in 1994, I spent four years studying the craft of engraving intensively under his guidance.
My studies concluded with a master craftsman examination and certificate. Mr Schuch gave me a solid foundation and enabled me to attend courses at other leading institutions in Germany and Austria.
